Analysing Social Security Provisions: The Case for Longitudinal Data
In-House Report No. 38
By Karl Ashworth and Robert Walker

This report aims to show that the advantages of longitudinal data out weigh the extra complexity and the cost. It outlines and discusses the issues raised by longitudinal data, focusing on the difficulties and possible solutions which arise. The discussion is illustrated with reference to social security and informed primarily by longitudinal studies undertaken recently by the Centre of Research in Social Policy (CRSP).
