by Catherine Grant, Alice Fitzpatrick, Polly Sinclair and Jeri-lee Donovan

This report presents findings of a quantitative study carried out in 2007 to explore employers' attitudes and likely reactions to the workplace pension reforms. It involved telephone interviews with 2,399 private sector employers selected to reflect diversity in terms of employer size, current level of pension provision and likely future contribution levels. The research was carried out on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions by BMRB Ltd.

The study was commissioned as part of a programme of research and analysis carried out by the Department for Work and Pensions to inform the policy development, implementation and estimation of the likely impacts of the workplace pension reforms.
