Work and Pensions Longitudinal Study - Recent Publications
The report "Department for Work & Pensions Information & Analysis Directorate Preliminary Audit of IAD Systems" was published 2nd February. The report covered IFD's compliance with the Data Protection Act.
The report concludes that the systems of Information Directorate are compliant with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. It recognises the considerable work that has gone into ensuring the standards are met and how these have led to real improvements in privacy. This has not been a simple paper exercise. For example, security has been improved by moving key parts of the directorate to a building with swipe-card access to add strong physical security to the considerable technical security also in place.
The areas which are highlighted as in need of development have been addressed and acknowledged via a report produced by the Enterprise Privacy Group. We aim to continue to develop our systems as this was not a one-off exercise but an ongoing commitment to Data Protection. An activity praised in the report is the establishment of the Work and Pensions Longitudinal Study Ethics Committee.
